Patient Safety Charter
At Waterloo Dental, we foster a safety-oriented culture where patient safety is a primary focus—not only during direct patient care but also in our objectives, procedural developments, and the procurement of new products and equipment. Our environment promotes openness and fairness, encouraging our team to discuss work challenges openly for the betterment of patient care. To ensure the highest standards of patient safety, we:
- Adhere to the latest infection prevention guidelines, including those from NHS England.
- Utilize dental instruments that are either single-use or thoroughly sterilized post-use.
- Rigorously decontaminate work areas, such as the dental chair, handheld equipment, and cupboard handles, between patient appointments.
- Uphold exemplary personal hygiene standards, including the use of clinical clothing and restrictions on wearing jewelry.
- Regularly monitor water quality in our practice, ensuring dental unit waterlines are disinfected and clear.
- Manage waste according to current regulations and dispose of it through proper channels.
- Seek expert advice if a team member is suspected of having a bloodborne infection, requiring an occupational health assessment and adherence to advised precautions regarding patient treatment.
- Train all team members in the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, with regular monitoring and reviews of our safeguarding procedures.
- Implement a clinical governance system that integrates risk management to identify, assess, analyze, and manage risks and incidents, aiming for continual improvement in our care and service.
The Practice Manager is ultimately responsible for overseeing these practices. Our team is supported with regular meetings, ongoing training, personal development opportunities, and frequent performance appraisals. We value the feedback and inquiries from our patients.
For any questions or suggestions, please reach out to the practice manager. We are here to assist you and ensure your visit to Waterloo Dental is safe and comfortable.
